When an injury occurs

Your employee is injured. Now what? Use our four-step response to get the claim off to a good start.

In an emergency, call 911. In a non-emergency, suggest your employee go to a clinic you should already have an established relationship with. You want to make sure the clinic you choose is familiar with handling workers’ comp injuries and understands that you are interested in getting your employee back to work as soon as medically possible.

Find the information necessary to report the injury. Be prepared to share with your claims representative:

  • Specifics about the injury and how it happened
  • Wage information
  • Employee’s full name, date of birth, address and Social Security number
  • Medical information

If you don’t have all of the information, report the injury anyway and gather the information later. Timely reporting is crucial to getting the claim off to a good start.

The fastest and most convenient way to report injuries is online. It’s easy. No login or password is required. All you need is your Superior Point policy number (which can be found on your policy) and the date of injury to get started.

Once you have reported your claim, a Superior Point claims representative will contact you within 24 hours.

Prevent injuries from happening in the first place with these four critical elements:

Choose an employee who is familiar with your operations and is dedicated to making your work environment safe.

Require pre-employment physicals. Make sure job descriptions match the job requirements. Be aware of federal Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements. Steer clear of undocumented workers.
